Mandatory State Requirement – Tdap Immunization:
All students in the 7th and 8th grade must turn in proof of the Tdap
immunization before the first day of school, August 21, 2012. A
student without proof of the Tdap immunization or a signed Personal
Beliefs Exemption specific to the Tdap will not be given their class
schedule on the first day of school until such proof is presented to
school staff.
Closed Campus Policy: For the safety of students, Granite Oaks maintains a closed campus policy. Once a student arrives for the school day, he/she is not permitted to leave campus until the close of school at 3:10 p.m., unless checked out by a parent or guardian or person listed on emergency card (18 years of age or older).
What is COMMON CORE?
Educational standards describe what students should know and be able
to do
in each subject in each grade. In California, the State Board
of Education decides
on the standards for all students, from
kindergarten through high school.
Since 2010, 45 states have adopted the same standards for English
and math.
These standards are called the Common Core State Standards
(CCSS).
Having the same standards helps all students get a good
education, even if they
change schools or move to a different state.
Teachers, parents, and education experts designed the standards to
prepare students for success in college and the workplace.
The California Department of Education helps schools make sure that
all students
are meeting the standards.
